Use observation/anecdotal records, noting when students - regard reading and viewing as sources of interest, information and enjoyment - display a broadening interest in a range of texts (e.g., chapter books, poetry, non-fiction, magazines, films, videos, computer software) Analyse reading records for variety and suitability of the texts selected. Use running records/miscue analysis to determine whether students are choosing reading material at an appropriate reading levels. p.95 Observe/keep anecdotal records of students’ efforts as they plan, locate, and gather information.
